Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP)
Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP)
If you’re not eligible for NDIS but have an ongoing mental health concern, the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) may assist you. The CPSP, funded by WAPHA, is free to access and aims to help individuals improve mental well-being and achieve personal goals by building support networks and connecting with community resources.
To support your journey to recovery, our skilled team will conduct an assessment and work with you to determine the best option for you. With focused, time-sensitive support aimed at enhancing your capacity and stability, you’ll be empowered to pursue your personal recovery objectives.
What is psychosocial support?
Psychosocial support assists individuals with mental health concerns that are affecting their quality of life to:
- Engage with their community
- Manage daily tasks
- Participate in work
- Connect with family and friends
These supports are tailored to each person’s specific needs and include individual support and group programs including Buried In Treaures and Men of Hope
We connect people with the support options they identify as key to their recovery and ensure ongoing communication between services.
Our Support Coordinators assist people to make plans about improving health and wellness through:
- identifying personal meaning of recovery – living the life they want to live
- finding the right services and activities to achieve recovery
- encouraging acceptance and inclusion within the community
- find solutions to practical problems such as housing, employment or alcohol and other drugs, etc
We work alongside carers and family members to help their loved ones get the support they need
Eligibility
CPSP is designed to help support people living with severe, often episodic, mental health challenges who:
- are above 16 years of age,
- are not receiving similar psychosocial supports through a state or territory government program or the NDIS, or where there are no NDIS service providers in the region, should continue to be supported until these NDIS services actually commence
- have needs that can be appropriately met through short-term, low-intensity support to live independently in the community, as determined through a capacity and strength-based assessment tool
