Eating Disorder Services

Dedicated dietitians and a registered psychologist provide personalised support for individuals with diagnosed eating disorders and disordered eating.
We provide tailored services using evidence-based methods and expert dietary guidance.

While people with eating disorders exhibit disordered eating, not all individuals with disordered eating meet the criteria for an eating disorder. The distinction lies in the frequency and severity of the behaviours and the distress they cause.

Individuals might resort to disordered eating to cope with uncomfortable emotions, using a focus on weight and calorie intake as a distraction from other issues in their lives.
Those engaging in disordered eating behaviours often experience extreme anxiety around food. They might meticulously track their daily calorie intake, exercise obsessively, or avoid social situations involving food.

Our approach

We use best practice approaches, based on the latest empirical evidence to support individuals (16yrs+) with the following:

  • Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
  • Anorexia Nervosa and atypical Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia Nervosa and atypical Bulimia Nervosa
  • Binge-Eating Disorder and atypical Binge-Eating Disorder
  • Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders
  • Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorders and
  • Other disordered eating behaviours such as purging disorder, night eating syndrome, body dysmorphia or orthorexia.

Our registered psychologists provide support along with consultations and guidance from our skilled dietitians to assist clients.

Our dietitians are qualified and experienced in supporting clients with eating disorders. They have been screened and endorsed by the Butterfly Foundation for meeting the required skill set.

Information for health professionals

We accept referrals for eating disorder treatment from GP’s, paediatricians and psychiatrists. Please note, ongoing communication from our office will be required to complete bloodwork as part of the treatment program.

Each referring practitioner is responsible for determining client eligibility for an EDP. Clients that do not meet the criteria for an EDP but display signs of disordered eating can be seen by our team though other billing arrangements.

The Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire EDE-Q is available here in digital and print formats.

To send us a referral, simply download and complete the Eating Disorders Plan (EDP). You may also wish to refer to the MBS Items for GP’s Sheet. If you need assistance completing your referral, please contact us.
