About the Role 

Black Swan Health Limited is the lead agency in WA to deliver headspace Early Psychosis (hEP). hEP is an innovative initiative funded by the Australian Government (Department of Health) designed to ensure there is early intervention, responsive and recovery focused care for young people aged 12 – 25 years who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis or at ultra-high risk of experiencing psychosis.

As as a clinician you will act as a case manager and be part of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive, specialist and early intervention mental health service to young people aged 12-25 years who are referred to the hEP service.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the clinician will

  • Carry a caseload of young people within the Continuing Care team
  • Provide mental health assessments, including completion of mental state examination, risk assessment, case formulations and individual treatment planning
  • Provide case management and evidence-based psychological and psychosocial therapeutic interventions that promote recovery for the young person and their family, based on a cognitive behavioural case management approach
  • Consult, liaise and link with internal and external service systems to provide a full range of tailored interventions for young people with a first episode of psychosis
  • Crisis response and home-based assertive outreach as required, to facilitate engagement and treatment with a young person and their family/significant others

Key Competencies

Essential:

  • Relevant Professional Qualification (ie, Clinical Psychologist, Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Social Worker, Mental health Nurse) and membership of AHPRA, AASW or the appropriate professional body.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the application of evidence based clinical practice in the complex youth mental health field.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work collaboratively with young people and their families/significant others
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality assessment and evidence- based psychological interventions, within a stress-vulnerability and recovery framework for young people
  • Experience in the application of evidence based clinical practice in first episode psychosis

Other Relevant Information

  • Current police clearance and Working with Children’s check
  • Current driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Full Time role 38 hours Mon to Fri
