On Tuesday 2 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited headspace Osborne Park, as guests of Ms Julie Carr, Deputy Chair of Black Swan Health and Acting CEO Ms Joanne Fletcher.
Black Swan Health Acting CEO Joanne Fletcher said it was an honour to welcome the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove to one of our headspace centres.
“We are incredibly proud of our staff. The visit is a wonderful acknowledgement of the vital services provided to support young people experiencing mental health issues.”
The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with members of the headspace Osborne Park team Sarah Hithersay (Program Manager), Tara Cavazzi (Clinical Lead) and Josh Walker (Youth Representative) and headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP) Nicole Jolly (Operations Manager) and Dr Daniel Hacking (Consultant Psychiatrist).
During the tour staff spoke to the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove about the positive impact headspace services have on the health and wellbeing of young people in the local community, the importance of early intervention and the importance of engaging young people in the delivery of headspace services.
We were honoured when The Governor-General presented us with The Governor-General’s Medal in recognition of the excellent services provided by headspace Osborne Park and Black Swan Health to the community.
