As part of Healthy Weight Week, an Accredited Practising Dietitian from Black Swan Health will be conducting free educational supermarket tours on Thursday 16th February at Innaloo Shopping Centre.
According to Black Swan Health’s Executive Director Terina Grace, “Healthy eating is a leading factor in maintaining a healthy weight. Cooking at home often results in smaller portion sizes, fewer calories and more healthy ingredients, as we have control over the preparation of the meal.”
By promoting healthy lifestyle changes like cooking healthy options at home, Black Swan Health’s Healthy Lifestyle Team hope to reduce the risk of preventable conditions and help people feel healthier overall.
The supermarket tours will help shoppers make more informed and healthy food choices at their local supermarket, taking into account factors affecting everyday shoppers like budget and realistic expectations for meal preparation.
Each tour will focus on particular food groups, with the option to tailor content to the group’s interest.
Shoppers can have their dietary questions answered by an Accredited Practising Dietitian during and after the tours at the Black Swan Health stall in the shopping centre.
Qualified Diabetes Educators will also be on hand to conduct free health checks for Type 2 Diabetes and provide information and resources to shoppers on prevention and management.
Date: Thursday, 16th February.
Time: 10am -3pm. Tours will run every hour on the hour for approximately 30 mins.
Location: Black Swan Health stall, Westfield Innaloo Shopping Centre (near Australia Post Office).
Bookings: Max. 6-8 people per tour. Shoppers can register on the day at the stall.
