Merle has been a nurse since 1975 and began her career in Practice Nursing in 1994. During her 21 years in the practice, she worked as both a Practice Manager and a Practice Nurse Manager. Preparing chronic conditions care plans as part of her role was the impetus for her taking the next step to becoming a Credentialed Diabetes Educator.

Merle completed a post-graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management at Curtin University and became a Credentialed Diabetes Educator in 2013. Merle strives to provide her clients with a conducive environment to receive evidence-based education tailored to their needs, using a multi-disciplinary approach. She guides and supports people living with diabetes by empowering them to self-manage with confidence.

Merle has extensive experience in public speaking including at high schools, hospitals, medical groups, practice nurses and General Practitioners. She has also delivered many training courses for National Disability Insurance Scheme provider support staff in diabetes care and management.
