On Friday 28th July, Black Swan Health received its fourth award for 2017 at the North-West Metro Small Business Awards, less than two years after its inception.
Black Swan Health won the “Best New Business Award” ahead of nominees from diverse industry sectors, as well as being recognised as a finalist in the “Business of the Year Award” category. Coordinated by Joondalup Business Association, the awards acknowledge the outstanding performance and achievements of businesses in the region.
Black Swan Health was awarded for its essential and unrivalled health, mental health and disability services in the Joondalup area, such as the headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP); the only free and comprehensive psychosis management program for young people and their families in WA. The not-for-profit also operates in Osborne Park, Midland, Mirrabooka, Fremantle, Rockingham and Cockburn. Across these locations, Black Swan Health delivered over 70,000 clinical services in the 2015/16 financial year alone.
Earlier in the year, Black Swan Health was awarded the “Overall Award for Excellence” and “Excellence in Advocacy & Rights Promotion Award” at the WA Disability Services Awards 2017 amidst long-established industry giants, and has been nominated for the upcoming Australian Disability Awards 2017.
The organisation’s community impact was also recognised at the 2017 Fremantle Business Awards in June, receiving the “Corporate Social Responsibility Award” for its flagship Freo Street Doctor service and other community initiatives.
Black Swan Health’s Managing Director and CEO, Terina Grace attributes the company’s rapid success to its flexible, person-centred service model and ability to adapt to an ever-changing health sector:
“Our focus is improving the health and mental wellbeing of individuals in the community by delivering consistent and accessible services in an evolving health care industry. We have been able to do this successfully with a forward-thinking approach and a highly skilled and dedicated team.”
Black Swan Health was built on the expertise and key personnel of its predecessor Panorama Health Network, and was designed to thrive in an unstable marketplace through adaptation and the diversification of its services. Black Swan Health has expanded its services regionally and will soon deliver a national youth counselling initiative, in addition to its core focus in the Perth metropolitan area.
