Black Swan Health’s Partners in Recovery team have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to individuals with disability, as winners of two esteemed awards at the Disability Support Awards, WA.
Nadia Bamasri and Chris Black were joint finalists in each of the categories in which they were nominated, including ‘Excellence in Improving Participation’ and ‘Excellence in Advocacy & Rights Promotion’. Nadia and Chris were awarded the latter for tirelessly advocating for the rights of individuals with disability, as well as empowering consumers to advocate and providing opportunities to do so with support.
In addition to winning the ‘Excellence in Advocacy & Rights Promotion’ Award, Nadia and Chris also received the ‘Overall Award for Excellence’, which recognises outstanding achievement in disability support. This award is determined by the impact nominees have on the lives of the people that work with and support.
The team was nominated by Rachel, a client, who made a remarkable transformation with the support of Nadia and Chris in the Partners in Recovery program. In the nomination, Rachel described the pair as showing “genuine care and a willingness to do whatever it takes to better our lives and help us pursue our goals.”
Commenting on Nadia and Chris’ success, Black Swan Health CEO and Managing Director Terina Grace said “we are proud of the meaningful results that our staff achieve in improving the lives of individuals living with a disability.” Terina said, “Black Swan Health is a leading provider of these services and members of the community can feel assured to receive client-centred, individually tailored and effective services from Black Swan Health”. Terina added that the Overall Award for Excellence “recognises those who have driven positive change in the disability sector, so the award is a well-deserved achievement for Nadia and Chris.”
